Life BioPaint
The Life BioPaint Project (LIFE17 ENV/IT/000164) has the goal of reducing CO2 emissions by 30% yearly, calculated by Life Cycle Assessment of the current IVM production processes, and in particular:
- the complete avoidance of any VOC emission from the products, even during their production
- a 100% reduction of production rejects
- an 80% reduction of waste
- a 30% reduction of energy draw
That is a yearly CO2 emission reduction equal to that emitted by a car driving 1.000.000.000 km!
Such a target will be reached via the development of UV-cured wood coatings made with bio-renewable raw materials from agricultural waste biomass and not from foodstuff, produced in an innovative plant that is closed circuit and wholly automated.
Life-Cycle Assessment
Life-Cycle Assessment is a methodology, now standardized at the international level, that makes it possible to quantify the environmental impact of a good or service. For a product, the evaluation involves its entire lifecycle: from the extraction of the raw materials to its final disposal or recycling.
